Support Engineer

I work in our hardware section building bespoke PCs, servers and Laptops for a variety of customers and I also provide the after sales support. Additionally I help maintain our internal PC and server hardware.

Role in Webnetism

I am part of the Continental team and work on providing PCs, servers and laptops to our hardware customers., This can either be on our specialist Forensic Workstations, data/web servers or any general office/home systems. I work with Tim and Bea to provide our customers with technical pre-sales information, then I  build and/or install the systems and finally provide after-sales support. I also assist with any hardware changes and diagnostics involving our internal infrastructure for the whole company.

Speciality and Experience

After finishing a business management degree and a year doing warehouse stock control, I worked for 18 years on the EMEA Technical Support Team of a well-known multinational IT Hardware Component manufacturer. I provided remote technical and pre-sales support in 3 languages for Enterprise Servers, PCs, laptops and networking components – supporting anyone from large business customers, with 10s of HPC clustered server and storage products, down to end users at home with a single laptop or PC. My favourite area of IT is Data Center servers and storage where trying to achieve the highest performance whilst maintaining stability and usability is not always an easy thing to do.

What I like to get up to in my spare time

Outside of work you will mostly find me watching Welsh Rugby, Tennis or Motorsport; or maybe I’ll be playing Tennis or Crazy Golf.
